Dragon Age Origins Says invalid license (Old Thread)

A few years back I downloaded Dragon Age Origins through the free game platform (On The House) on Origin. When I tried to play it today it said it could not be loaded due to an invalid license. It says "Invalid license. Reason Code = Missing DLL:[NxCharacter.dll] Error: 0x7E"  I have tried repairing the game, updating, and (very sadly) uninstalled the game and losing my progress to try to fix the problem but it persisted instead. Does anyone know why this happened and how I can fix it? I just want to play my game. If I have to full on buy the game I will since I love it. I just don't want to since I should already have it.

    Hey @carsonrspencer. 

    The error that you're getting seems more like the game is having trouble finding a file that it's looking for. It's possible that the .dll file has become corrupted or is missing from Windows. When you've got a chance I'd recommend running the Windows System File Checker to see if that helps. 

    You can find more details on how to run it over at the Microsoft Support website. Let me know if that helps!

    The error that you're getting seems more like the game is having trouble finding a file that it's looking for. It's possible that the .dll file has become corrupted or is missing from Windows. When you've got a chance I'd recommend running the Windows System File Checker to see if that helps.

    Were you able to try running the Windows System File Checker? Are you still seeing the same issue?

    I'm having the same problem, however I've tried repairing the file, uninstalling and re-installing it and nothing has worked

    I just downloaded Dragon Age Origins from Origin and it just keeps giving the message below. 'Ongeldige licentie' means that my license isn't right for the game. Which seems odd, seeing I got it through Origin, installed it from Origin and tried to start it from Origin. 

    Does anyone else have this problem or does anyone know how to fix it?

    Hey @ThommyVee. 

    When you have the chance can you try downloading the Visual C++ Redistributables from the Microsoft Support website to see if that helps at all? That may be able to help recover those missing files. 

    Let me know if you're still getting the same error message after that.

    Hey Kent,

    I tried your suggestion but it keeps on giving the same error. I also tried the more elaborate method mentioned in the first comment but that didn't work either. 

    Thanks for helping though! Do you have any other suggestions?

    Hey Kent
    Im having the same issue on a new computer. I've ran the file checker, and installed the C++ files to help me fix my problem with the origin launcher not installing. Both these things got the launcher to work, to install the game+DLC's, and when I go to launch I get the very same error and the live chat has been offline for help. Is there anything else we can try?

    Thank you for giving that a shot!

    This error can also come up if NVIDIA PhysX isn't installed on your PC. Even if you're not using an NVIDIA GPU, DA:O is still looking for PhysX. 

    When you have the chance I'd recommend downloading PhysX directly from the NVIDIA website to see if that helps at all. Let me know if you're still getting the same error message after that.
