Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition can't connect to EA servers

I bought the digital download of DA:OUE through Origin because I just knew something like this would happen eventually, and I didn't want anyone to try to tell me I was sol because I got it through Steam or something. So that's what I'm running it through, and I've downloaded and installed all of the add-ons that came with it.

But now it won't start. Every time I try to start the game through Origin or a direct shortcut, I recieve an EA Error message, the full contents of which are as follows: We're Sorry, an error has occured - We are unable to connect to EA servers to activate Dragon Age(tm): Origins - Ultimate Edition on this computer using your account. Please try again later.

The only button is Exit. It tells me to try again later, but this has been going on since I bought the game... on August 22nd. It is now the 26th, and I would like a fix, please.

I'm not sure what of my system requirements would even be helpful here, but I can assure you that my computer would have no problems running this.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, (6.1, build 7601)

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2320 CPU @ 3.00GHz (4 CPUs)

12GB RAM

2TB Hard Drive Disk with 940GB free (after installing DA:OUE)

DirectX 11

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 with 4038MB approx. memory

As I said, this has been going on since I bought the game. So I haven't even gotten to play it, yet. It's not like I'm not logged in or anything, Dragon Age II and all its DLC work fine from Origin! And I can't use the DA:OUE product/activation key, cause it says it's already in use. So I assume the one they gave me was used automatically to install the game. It's obvious the problem is the servers, I was just hoping somebody here had already experienced and gotten help with this problem. EA's customer support hasn't responded to me.

Hey, please check your firewall/antivirus and ensure that both DAO and Origin are whitelisted/exceptions.

It sounds like the game is having issues talking to the activation servers, so checking for a local security block is a good first step.

Before even changing anything, I just now checked it again as a test, and it launched flawlessly. I changed nothing, so it was clearly the servers themselves earlier. Oh well. It works now.

  • I have a similar problem. I can start and play DA:O. However, when I try to log in to the EA servers through the DA:O client it lets me get to the TOS screen, but then tells me my password is invalid; even though I can get onto the Origin site and the BSN with no issues.

Different problem has now arisen. Should I make a new post? I'll just stick to the one for now.

I cannot start a game. Since I confirmed that it loaded during a very brief window of availability, I have only just sat down to finally play it. No matter which story I try to start, it shows the initial loading screen, and then the whole game crashes. Stops responding, tells me as much, and starts "searching for solutions." Which we all know is Microsoft talk for "We don't know what the actual probelm is, so we can't give you a real error message."

I actually sat through it a couple times, and it never finds a solution. I am simply forced to close it.

This occurs whether I launch from Origin, from a desktop shortcut, or directly from the game progam. I am given a main menu, but nothing passed that. I can fiddle with settings, I can see available DLC(of which there is none since DA:O-UE comes with them all), but when I try to start the game- Origins, Awakening, Golems of Amgarrak, Witch Hunt, it doesn't matter- I get shown the loading screen, and then a crash.
