Dragon Age: Origins when prompted to log in

Dragon Age: Origins

I downloaded and installed Dragon Age Origins and launched the game through EA Games, which loaded and ran well. However, when attempting to log into EA in the game I received a notice that EA was no longer available. While the game runs okay, it is frustrating that I can no longer access the 'cheat' features also.

    1. Go to your "My Collection" in EA app.
    2. Click on the three dots on the DAO Cover > View Properties.
    3. Copy and paste -enabledeveloperconsole into the "Advanced Lunch options" field > Save.
    4. Go to your "Documents\Bioware\Dragon Age\Settings" folder and open the "KeyBindings.ini" with a Text editor.
    5. Press STRG and F at the same time > Search for "OpenConsole_0"
    6. Replace "OpenConsole_0" with "OpenConsole_0=Control + Keyboard::Button_X" (without the quotes) > Save
    7. That's it, the console will now open if you press CTRL + X.

If you want to see what you are writing:

    1. Cope the "fonts.erf" file from the Mod I mentioned before into the "Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/packages/core/data" folder
    2. That's it.

The servers were shut down last month, they will most probably not come back online.

But what "cheat" features you are talking about? The Console? That should work just fine.

  • Yes, I realized that the servers were taken down after reading through the forums.

    Yes, the console.

I used to be a Forum Moderator for BioWare when they had their own forums. I provided player support as a community moderator for games such as Balder's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Balder's Gate II (Obsidian), Dragon Age, Dragon Age Inquisition, Mass Effect, and so on.

With this release of Dragon Age, I downloaded the Play Pro version of the package with all the add-ons

It may be that I have forgotten something when setting up the shortcut to activate the console and would like to have someone provide me directions for setting up the console again if you could?

I myself use the GOG version of DAO now, which is the "Ultimate edition", I would assume the EA Play Pro version is similar.

You can find the guide to activate the console for the "Ultimate edition" here.

There is also a mod on the Nexus that make it possible to actually see what you are typing. 😉 (It does not activates the Console on its own.)
Just google "Make CONSOLE commands visible nexus" and you will find it.

A list of some of my all-time favorites.
It was a sad day as Bioware decided to shut down BSN.

  • Not having much luck on getting the console working yet, been working on it periodically trying different solutions, just not making any headway *sigh*

  • Working on testing the changes in a few minutes... I may need to modify my customized settings.
