Dragon Age:Inquisition doesn't start after installing GeForce Game Ready driver

Story is, when I bought this laptop a year and a half ago, Inquisition worked smoothly. Recently I wanted to play again, but it was impossible due to huge lagging, even on the lowest graphic settings. I thought it might be a case of uptading my NVIDIA drivers, so I downloaded the GeForce Game Ready driver (ver 368,69), optimized the game but now it doesn't even start. When I click play, I just get a glimpse of a black window and nothings else. Just a heads up, I know absolutely nothing about computers. So far I tried repairing game, reinstalling and running as administrator, but nothing changes ☹️

Make sure DAI is using your Nvidia GPU, not the Intel chip.

Like this, but with Dragon Age instead of Chrome:

It was already using NVIDIA, still no changes ☹️

  • If you're using AVG as your anti-virus either disable it (I got rid of it altogether and downloaded bitdefender) or add Inquisition as an exception in AVG.

I'm using Avast, I disabled it, still no success though.

  • @czeria Do you have a program called Teamviewer on your computer? This is also known to cause this issue (much like the AVG issue, it causes a black screen and CTD at launch).

You might also want to try deleting the ProfileOptions_profile file out of your Documents > Bioware > Dragon Age Inquisition > Save folder, just in case something's gone wonky in your graphical settings. This will get rid of your graphical settings, so you will need to change them once you get the game launched.

Good luck, let us know how you go 🙂

I don't have teamviewer, I deleted the ProfileOptions_profile file and still nothing ☹️ I tried downloading different versions of geforce driver yesterday and I discovered that using the oldest possible driver game does run (ver 340,52), but it lags just like when I'm using the integrated card. Using more recent drivers, I just get the black screen. Anyone has any idea what could be the reason? Thanks for helping so far 🙂

@czeria Have you been doing clean installs of your GPU drivers with all these changes? Might help. Rather than try to explain the process, I'll let Fred do it, as he did such a good job in this post

Still nothing. I kind of lost hope, so I'm going to try the ultimate method and format my computer today, I'll let you know if that worked :P
