dragons age inquistion auto save causing crash when starting new game

I'm brand new to dragons age and have never played the game before. The game always crashes right after the class and race selection without fail and with no error message. I can enter into multiplayer with no issues but can't play single player at all.

    Hey @d970c4082bec3037

I'm sorry to hear your game is crashing after character selection.

Sometimes some specific Anti-Virus software can cause issues with DA: Inquisition. I've seen people having problems when using AVG or Avast. If you're using any of these software, please try adding DA: Inquisition to the exception list. In case that doesn't fix the problem, please take a look at this thread as it has some further steps that fixed the problem for other users.

    I hope this helps!

  • I'm using windows defender and have already added dragons age into the exceptions list.

Please create a DxDiag in text file format and post it with your next reply. You can do that with the "Choose file" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window.

Your GTX 1070 driver is severely out of date.

    • Follow this manual to the letter to cleanly uninstall all NVIDIA components.
    • Install the graphics driver > Go online.
    • Test.
  • I'm fairly certain my drivers aren't the issue as I can launch and play multiplayer with zero issues. I just can't play single player. I can get through class and race selection and the first set of game tips. The game crashes right after the first set of game tips with the loading icon in the bottom right hand corber.

Such an old driver will make problems sooner or later anyway.

    Do you use mods?

If you are on a PC try to repair the game.

(Origin: Game Library > Right-click the game cover > Repair)
(EA app: My Collection > Click on the three dots on the game cover > Repair)
(Steam: Game Library > Right-click the game > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.)
