Yeah, thats essentially what happened to mine, I got it when they gave it away on Epic Games and now it is my default, so all my old save data from the Origin/EA App is gone. I swear i had cloud data because i played through the game at launch and had 4-5 other playthroughs with the last one in 2020 and between the launch and 2020 i had gone through multiple PCs and i thought i was able to import the cloud saves on all my machines. but it's been a while so I dont really remember it all. I regret grabbing the game on Epic Games now. I was told by one of the customer service members that the saves on EA App and Epic are not stored in the same place, so when i got the game on the epic game store, I pretty much lost all my save data on EA. I even tried a new PC with no Epic or EA App installed, installed EA App only and installed DAI, same result, no save files. I guess ill just have to replay through.
That's a bummer. I played and finished the base edition of DAI on PC in 2015 or so, via Origin. I was happy to see that DAI GOTY is available on GeForce Now and as I have never played any of the DLC I wanted to pick it up now before Veilguard's release only to find out that there is no save from my original playthrough ☹️

Just installed the game for the first time after many years and also expected it to download my old saves. I'm pretty sure the game had cloud saves but not sure if you had to activate them. Searching the net I found discussions from years ago with people mentioning cloud saves. In one such discussion someone stated something about having to activate cloud saves. Maybe I never activated this feature.
But this shows that it's best to backup stuff like this yourself. Thanks to being a "little" data hoarder, I'm lucky that I also backed up my Inquisition saves from 2016.
