I followed these steps and completely uninstalled both the game and EA using Revo Uninstaller. I reinstalled the latest version of the EA app and reinstalled the game. Launched the game without Frosty and without any mods, just the vanilla version, and I still get the popup.
- Press Windows + R at the same time > type or copy and paste "sysdm.cpl" into the new window > "Ok"
- Go to the "Advanced" Tab.
- Click on "environment variables"
- Look if there is a "GAME_DATA_DIR" variable.
- If yes, remove it.
- Restart the Computer.
- Test.

That variable isn't on the list.

You’re starting the game from Steam or EA app, not from the game exe or a direct shortcut of the exe, right?
- 2 years ago@holger1405 Yes, that's right.

Please check in your EA account settings if EA app and Steam are linked.
If yes unlink the accounts and link them again. - 12 months ago
Hi! Sorry, I got busy with work and other things. I tried this and it also didn't work. 😢

Please create a DxDiag in text file format and post it with your next reply. You can do that with the "Choose file" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window.
Also provide a screenshot of the environment variables on your machine and clean un- and re-install Steam with Revo as well.

I've attached the DxDiag file here, but I haven't done a clean uninstall and reinstall of Steam yet. That might have to be my last resort though.

The system variable screenshot would be of interest too.
There is not much space left on your system drive, which should not cause this particular problem, but could be the culprit for some Windows update errors in your DxDiag who could be part of the problem.
I would suggest freeing up some space (at least 20 - 25 GB) and then making sure that Windows updates are installed correctly. - 12 months ago
I attached the screenshot. I'll try freeing up some space, but that hasn't been an issue before, even with newer games.

The system variables are fine.
Did you re- installed DAi to the same drive as before?
Do you have other EA games on Stream and do they launch?
- 12 months ago@holger1405 Yes, same drive as before. I have Mass Effect Andromeda and The Sims 4 and they all launch just fine.

Pleases clean reinstall Steam with Revo as well.
Have you uninstalled the game with Revo?If that still don't work I would suggest to install the game to a different drive.

Moving it to a different drive worked. It's a hassle because I allocate my drives for different things, but at least I get to play 1-2 runs before Veil Guard. Thank you for your help!
