[EA app] Unable to Access Dragon Age II
I own Dragon Age 2 for PC, an old disk copy version at that. I used to be able to simply put in the disk, click "play" from the launcher, and play the game just fine. Lately I've been wanting to play it again but now it won't play unless it goes through the EA App. While I was able to play just fine (despite it taking a bit for the app to think about it), I was able to play for a few hours on 08/23/2024. The next day, I get nothing but problems. At first it was struggling to play through the app (and really wouldn't launch even if it acted like it), so I'd try to launch the game through my shortcut, which would then trigger for it to launch in the EA App again. Sometimes it would say my cloud was too full and it couldn't launch, but I'd just click to launch with local data, which is how I accessed it on 08/23/2024.
As of 08/24/2024, it won't actually launch. No matter where I go to launch it, be it the disk launcher, the shortcut, or from the EA App, it will think forever in the EA App, act like it is launching, makes the EA App disappears and everything, and then nothing happens. In my Task Manager, it says the game is running, but only as one of the Background Processes. There is no tab in my start bar showing the game, there is no window to go to, it just hangs in the limbo of background processes. I have done everything from hard resetting my WiFi, to restarting my computer twice, even a third full shut down and turn back on 30 minutes later, I've cleared my cache on my internet provider and the cache on the EA App, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Dragon Age 2 twice, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the EA App, I've removed some of my old character and save files from relevant Dragon Age 2 folders in case I had too much going on there (considering the 10604 error I was getting at one point about cloud storage being full), I've tried manipulating the files and folders the best I could, and nothing works. My internet is fine, my graphics card is fine, my computer is fine, but nothing I do will get DA2 to actually launch.
I would note that it is extremely frustrating that a game I own, on a physical disk, suddenly now requires going through an internet app to launch, and that internet app seems to be the main problem and main issue preventing me from accessing Dragon Age 2 again. Can someone please help me access DA2? On a broader note, can someone please tell me how I can go back to the good old days of inserting a disk and launching a game, offline, without issue, rather than being forced into going through an EA App from hell?
Thanks,
Lucas.
Try to repair the game.
