[EA app/Steam] Dragon Age II won't launch on PC

It just doesnt work. For what I can see it just crashes. I tried using dx9 instead of dx11 but that didnt work. Try reinstalling both EA launher and the game, nothing. I did bought it in steam I tried launching from both steam and EA. Nothing. Im going to attach my dx dialog too.

  • Hi Anama,

looks like its crashing on rtsshooks.dll.

when i google this it seems to belong to rivatuner or msi afterburner.

Are you running msi afterburner or rivatuner?

If so, either update it or just uninstall it and see what happens.

  • Hi! It worked but then It would crash 5 seconds into the menu, but I managed to get the solution from a steam forum. Ea overlay for games causes a lot of crashes too, so if anyone is having my problem, closing rivatuner servers and msi afterburner and deactivating ea overlay does the trick, at least for me, thanks to pukingdog for the help too!

Thanks for letting us know. This should help others out for sure! Sometimes there are options you just don't think about like changing like the afterburner. Still, good info to have!

  • Indeed - the issue with EA games (e.g. Dragon Age) not launching in Steam or the EA App -- is the EA program overlay.

EA App > Profile Picture > Settings > Application > In-game overlay > Turn Off
