Everything Missing in Haven

I have noticed that recently, all the characters in Haven have been disappearing, along with equipment (Seggrits shop, all the crafting equipment etc), except for Varric and a few random NPCs, even the inquisition soldiers that are training near Cullen are gone, which is a sporadic occurance, but Solas is the only one consistantly gone. I do have mods, but none that modify the equipment visually, and I have not had this problem before my 2 most recent characters, neither have left haven as I have been troubleshooting this. I have already "repaired" the game, and it seems to work but as soon as I return to haven after a mission it seems to go. Unlike most of the other people who have had a similar problem, I can walk through their 'space'. It seems to be somewhat of a loading error, as whatever I load the game near works, but as soon as I go elsewhere, it doesnt load at all. If anyone knows how to fix this I'd be most grateful 🙂

My System:

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU 2.60GHz

Memory: 8.00 GB RAM

Resolution: 1920 x 1080, 60Hz

Operating System: Windows 10 Home

Edit: If the people aren't invisible, half the Chantry is. I have included a screenshot of this.

  • I had this exact same problem. For me, it turned out that the Dorian in Black mod was responsible. The author is trying to fix it, but nothing so far. But when I rebuilt my mod patch without that one, Solas & the apothecary came right back. Hope this helps.

  • @Squonkalicious Generally, a full dxdiag is more helpful than an overview of your specs, as you miss things. 😉 If you're unsure how, you can find instructions on posting a dxdiag here.

Since you're on a laptop, one thing that's likely is the game is trying to use an integrated video card instead of your dedicated GPU (dxdiag would show whether you have an integrated GPU, pretty sure your CPU has one), and since the card is incapable of running the game properly you're getting weird issues like missing people. Check your settings via Nvidia control panel (should be able to get to it by right clicking your desktop and choosing 'Nvidia control panel' from the menu. Go to 'Manage 3D settings' > Program Settings, choose DAI from the list (or you may have to browse, it should be located in [drive] > Program Files > Origin Games > Dragon Age Inquisition (may vary, such as 'Program Files (x86)' instead of Program Files), and tell it to use the Nvidia card instead of the integrated card. It may already be set to do this, it's just worth checking.

If it's not that, you may just have your graphics settings too high, see if lowering them helps. Mods may make a difference in this regard (if you're using a lot of hair mods or texture mods, it can make a difference to game performance).

Try that, post a dxdiag, and let us know how you go. 🙂

(Sorry if any of this is nonsensical, I didn't realise how tired I was).

  • I see that the GPU is a 970M, indicating "mobile", which means this is a laptop.

Check in the nVidia Control Panel (or possibly the BIOS) that your rig is set to use the nVidia GPU and not the Intel HD Integrated one.

This game doesn't really like mods, which is why I never installed one. I used a few in the first game, such as 'Skip the Fade', but fortunately DAI doesn't have any segments that are unbearably long. 🙂

  • I get this at Skyhold a lot.

No people. No furniture. Nothing in the Undercroft.

It happens with my GTX 960 and 970.

Only thing I can do is save in place and reload that save.

I have noticed that the more saves I get and the more completed games I get...the worse it gets.

Might go through today and delete a bunch of older games saves.

@mckrackin5324 DAI is limited on the number of saves it can have. I copy my saves to another folder, one I created on my external hard drive and, name each subfolder for the Inquisitor those saves are. Once I finish one character, or decide to move to another, I delete the originals of the copied saves. I can move them back in to the DAI Save folder later if I want to play that Inquisitor again. Haven't seen the half gone Skyhold glitch since I started doing that. I did see it a couple of times before that so, you might be right that the number of files in the Save folder affects that glitch.
