FPS Issues Despite Great Laptop Specs

Hi all,

I have a great laptop (2.3 GHz i7 quad core processor, 8GB RAM, 4GB graphics card, etc), yet even on the lowest settings, I'm getting terrible FPS, almost to the point where the game is unplayable. Is anyone else having similar issues, or does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about fixing this?

hastebin dxdiag

Thanks so much!

    Hi Fred,

Before, I actually went into Global Settings and changed the "preferred graphics processor" to the NVIDIA processor, but it was still giving me issues.

However, I will try your solution and let you know how it works out!

    Thanks!

The Optimus products and the drivers for them seem generally substandard in every way, an opinion based on 30 years plus of desktop hardware experience.  Many of them NEVER work correctly in Bethesda's or in EA's games.  There are tens of thousands of messages on the Geforce forums complaining about the Optimus series.

So, I tried what Fred suggested, and I see no difference--still terrible FPS, pretty much rendering the game unplayable. :/

    Any other suggestions or comments?

    Thanks in advance.

set the nvidia control settings for:

Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration   -> SINGLE DISPLAY PERFORMANCE

Power management  mode                      -> prefer maximum performance

And if that doesn't work, see if you can disable integrated graphics in the BIOS (though I don't think all motherboards support this).

Because an Optimus is ONLY the back half of a real GPU, not a complete device, without any front end, it must have that Intel chip working.

I tried changing the multi-display settings and that seemed to work at first--as soon as I opened DAI I was getting AMAZING FPS--but then less than 5 minutes later, it went right back to awful, unplayable FPS.

Additionally, I'm not sure if this is relevant or not, but as I closed DAI, the program stopped responding and I had to force quit it.

Not sure what's going on here, but whatever it is, it sucks ☹️ I just want to play the game...
