Game crashes when texture quality is high

After a complete factory reset on my gaming laptop after I kept getting a launch error of can't find supported video card, I can now launch DA Origins.

Now I have to have all graphical settings on low or the game crashes.

I also cannot open the configuration utility in the program files.

I am using the Origins launcher and its on a Predator Helios Neo 16 laptop.

DAO is a very old game, on old x86 systems a x86 executable could only address 2GB of virtual memory.

This restriction was brought over to modern x64 bit machines if you don't make the old executable "Large address aware".

After that the DAOrigins.exe can address 4GB of virtual memory.

A explanation and the tool to do that whit "DAOrigins.exe" can be found here.

Virus total scan of the "4gb_patch.exe from that link"

  • That 4GB update worked perfectly, I can even run the DLC campaigns which were broken even when running on low texture quality.

ITs a long shot I know but I would hope this game gets a modern hardware patch.

Anyway, thank you for that now I ca play my fav game again!

And yes, I would like to see that too, at least the exe should have been updated a long time ago.

The version of the game on GOG.com was updated last week with the LAA patch being pre-applied, and the exe being capped to 2 CPU cores to increase stability.

But that's part of GOG's game preservation initiative, and I don't know if EA plans to release a similar update on other storefronts.
