Spoke to an EA adviser who asked me to do the following:

I have now tried all of these and nothing is working.
is your auto load key on? perchance by accident?or maybe the key is locked on your key board?
It's not locked on my keyboard.
It doesn't always happen straight away. There's been times where it's let me play for 5 or so minutes before it reloads the save, so I don't think it's anything to do with the auto load key.I am pretty confident now that this is because of patch 10. It worked perfectly before and the release of patch 10 is the only thing that has changed.
