Game will not detect controller

I load the game, it will not detect that I have an XInput controller connected even though I do - it's a dualsense connectes via USB C.

I have checked with other utilities and it's being read as an XInput device, I am not sure what is causing the issue. 

I tried with an Xbox Series controller and same issue occurs. 

Please help, I'm trying to get through this game ahead of The Veilguard but it's not easy going when I'm getting tech issues like this...
