Gamepad support broken

I can't seem to get my 360 controller to work with PC version of Dragon Age Inquistion. I first tried with my Xbox One controller plugged into computer via usb. The start menu said to "press start" vs. "click to start" or something along that line... I then tried with my Xbox 360 controller and PC adadpter and reached same result. No command given on controller was registering in game. Please fix this! I can restart game to use mouse and keyboard, but that's not the way I wanted to play.

Okay, I found a solution. I unplugged my keyboard before starting the game and I can confirm both controllers are able to work now. It appears that when digging into my devices manager list, I noticed that both my keyboard and controller was listed under installed game controllers list. Just setting the xbox controllers as the preferred device didn't solve the issue. Clicking on the properties of the keyboard shows the following:
Device Type: Human Interface Devices
Manufactor: Razer
Location: Location 1 (Razer Joystick)
This is the first game I've had trouble with my keyboard somehow causing the issue thinking I have a joystick plugged in when I don't even own one and it overrides the 360 and xbox one controller despite those being the preferred on HID compliant game controllers.

Thanks, we're looking into why some folks can play with a pad, while some can't. For my part it works fine, so it's not a global issue.

Does restarting your machine with a Clean Boot help at all?

You need a wireless reciever for a 360 controller if you don't have a wired one. If you do have a wired controller, you have to turn it on in the options menu of the game.
Go to Options then select controls, it's the first option in the list.
Not sure if the XBOXONE controller works.

I have an official Wired 360 controller, but I use the KB and mouse for this game on PC.

The Xbox One pad definitely works, I have one right here for testing. However, we have varied reports of pad issues, so something out there doesn't play well with DAI and a pad.

I have the wireless reciever adapter for the 360 controller and it was hooked up prior to the start of the game.

I noticed I had to have the wireless 360 controller on before entering the game. Then I had to use the mouse to switch it over to the gamepad. If I turned it on once the game started, it wouldn't work at all and wouldn't let me switch over.

I have the same problem too with my wired Xbox 360 controller. Tried updating the MS drivers, restarted the computer. When I go to options of the game it states that no gamepad is connected
, when clearly it is and it is working. The only other USB items I have connected are my wireless mouse, my keyboard and speakers.
Will keep trying!

Managed to find a solution to using the Xbox 360 controller in DAI.
I went to My Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age Inquisition/Save/ProfileOptions_profile
I opened this document in Notepad and amended GstInput.Gamepad - it originally had a 0 after it and I amended it to a 1 (so it now reads as GstInput.Gamepad1
I hope this solves the problem for everyone else too.
