I had the same problem as everyone here, my mage apparently landed on his poor testes and is now roaming Thedas as a woman rogue. Different from what I have seen however, when I was stripped of my clothing I looked into my inventory and came to find that I had a pair of daggers as well! I couldn't equipt them, but with the lack of names and the 95 damage, I suspect they are my DLC daggers. Continueing from there only a bow, staff, light, and a medium armour were in my chest.
I imported from the keep, the camera zooms on my neck to fit a female's height, characters sometimes talk double to me, and I'm actually very impressed that Bioware held back on Gender neutral chatter to save on costs. I'll help however I can, standing by on my playthrough until a fix is released however.
I didn't quite realize what was happening at first, but this describes my issue almost exactly. I used the Keep a few days ago to create my custom world and I loaded it into my PC game when a created a Male Elf Mage. When I encountered my first enemy the cutscene showed a bow resting against the chest on the ice, but my character picked up a staff to attack. During the conversation I had the "mage hands" dialogue choice as I should have. I chose to keep my weapon.
My character showed a staff on his back through the rest of the intro, but I was in my long johns and my Inventory screen had no weapon or armor equipped. There was some rogue gear in my inventory though, including two daggers with no name. When I finished the intro, my character was suddenly wearing an Apprentice Coat and I picked up a Staff of the Dragon and Bow of the Dragon from the chest when I woke up in Haven.
During two or three cutscenes leading up to the into titles the camera was zoomed in to cut off my head at my nose, which would make sense if I was a female height. I did not realize that the game had me classified as female until I spoke to the quartermaster and was referred to as "she". Also, during the quest/dialogue with Josephine and the Marquis, I was introduced as "Mistress Lavellan".
I spent an hour perfecting my face and I have no desire to try to recreate it and start a new character. I am also hesitant to continue playing my current game if there is no way to correct this gender error. Is this something that will fixable for existing characters?
