Getting 15-20 LOW FPS for DA:I

Shot in the dark but I solved my problem by unplugging an xbox one controller.
- I have specs well above the recommended guidelines, and usually the game is buttery smooth for me at a solid 60fps, but sometimes after the ctd gets too bad, I have to restart, and the frame rate drops to like 20fps. I normally have to reset the computer several times until things go back to normal.
I also use an xbox 360 controller, and I've heard people say that framerate goes back to normal when they remove the controller. Anyone able to confirm that?
