Horrible Quest In The Exalted Plains! :-( :-( Can I Have Some Help ASAP Please?

I'm qute desparate for help here! Can someone out there try to help me ASAP PLEASE????

I haven't had to use these forums in quite some time. But I've been playing PC version of DAI for quite a while now, and have so far been able to rely on Youtube and other websites if I got stuck anywhere that I needed help with in this game. Surprise surprise though..... I am suddenly relying on these forums to try and ask for help, as I am completely stuck and need some desparate help to get through an absolutely HORRIBLE quest in this game. ☹️☹️☹️

So, Im in the Exalted Plains, and have reached this really dreadful quest called "The Dead Hand."

I really need to get through here so that I can continue on my way, looking forward to seeing what is around the next corner and so forth, but this is such a ABSOLUTE PAIN IN THE BACKSIDE of an absolutely HORRIBLE QUEST to get through!! ☹️☹️☹️

I absolutely HATE this STUPD quest with a passion!! ☹️☹️

I have tried to look this up on Youtube. For e.g. here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1L3v2i0n-W0&t=286s

to try and get throutgh this HORRIBLE QUEST! ☹️☹️☹️

But all the help videos there.... they only have my tiny mind waaaaayyyyyy to confused to ever begin to understand how to get around this HORRIBLE QUEST! ☹️☹️

I read a page somewhere..... a random person said there was an alternative route through the bypass to the dragon from the WAR TABLE at Skyhold.

Is this possoble at all?? Can you skip this horrible * quest and get through without having to do this stupid piece of *?? :-/ :-/

If it'spossible, please can someone out there tell me how ro get round via the war table??

I'm quite desparate here, so it would be really helpful if someone could reply to my post and try to help me out ASAP please??

Cripes! This is a bit strange. I posted a reply here yesterday, (using just the single reply button option) I've just come back to have another look, and it seems a bit strange as either my reply wasn't submitted or it was somehow taken off as I don't see my reply here now. I'm just going to make another reply and hope nothing funny happens to it this time.
So anyway.... thank you for the helpful replies here guys.

When I noticed the blue flashing square in the puzzle room, I knew it had someting to do with the stand and wait here option.

I tested this out, and I don't seem to have much of a problem with this in my game. Standing one toon on the blue flashing square, while moving another helper toon over to a switch, then use the stand and wait option.... boom..... no problem really. The only problem I really find is being able to see where the characters are stood at in the room in realation to the archer statue in the center. Even moving them around to different positions has my tiny mind really baffled. :-/

    ThandalNLyman,
I've had a look at the link you posted. I started reading the instructions related to the map/guide on there.
I was able to understand the first section, but as I continued to read I just found it more and more confusing.

mcsupersport, I found your reply quite helpful explaining where to follow a wall around to get to the exit. I think I'm going to use these instructions instead, as I think it would be more helpful to me.

  • I got to say this quest is a bit frustrating especially when the hold position doesn't stick for a character, but it isn't a hard one to do.

Basically you just need to figure out what lowers a pillar and then throw the lever to rotate the statue and shoot the orb behind the pillar.  The video you linked to is a bit confusing, but it is basically correct.

As far as I can tell, it is completely optional too.  Loot is supposed to be a cunning amulet, so maybe you want it....

Anyway if all you want is to get to the dragon, you are supposed to be able to take a path before getting to the mine's entrance to the left I think it was said...

     Edited to add:

Yeah, just checked, if you want to just avoid this optional puzzle and not get the loot and stuff from completing it and just get to the dragon, then you can.  If you are standing by the hole that leads down to the mine and you put the mine at your back and face down the hill you came up to get to it.  Then from this position, basically put your right hand on the wall and follow it around, if you do that and never leave that right wall, it will bring you around into the fen and to the exit of the Dead Hand, near a camp and such, from which you can get to the dragon easily.  So if you hate this puzzle that much you can easily avoid it and just not get a few bonus points....and I think an amulet.

Thanks a lot for the helpful replies guys. 🙂

ThandalNLyman, having looked at the guide in your link there, and reading the instructions that are included with it, I still find myself quite baffled and confused by some of that I'm afraid.☹️

I was able to understand the first part of the instructions related to the map, but as I continued to keep reading, I just found myself feeling more confused and a bit more frustrated than I did from reading the first part. This absolutely HORRID puzzle quest is just WAY too much for my tiny warped mind to take in and understand. That's why I think I would much prefer to bypass it and try to take the alternate route that explained to me instead. So I'm going to miss out on some loot stuff, but so what! I'm quite sure I can probably make my way through the rest of the game enough without this stuff.

As a side note though... when I first reached this underground puzzle area, and then eventually noticed the blue square in one corner of the room that lights up when you stand your characters on it, I soon realized it had something to do with the stand and wait here option while I take my other toon over there to do that. (flip that switch for e.g.)

I tried using this "stand and wait" option in my game, and personally, I don't seem to have any problems with that one that I've noticed. This one seems to work fine in my game for me.

The only problem I really have..... is being able to understand which sides of the room the characters are stood at in relation to the archer statue in the centre. And in every youtube video I've watched for this stupid puzzle, I've just felt so confused by the end, even reading a set of instructions has my head in a complete spin!

So I think it might be best if I just try to follow the instructions (thanks a lot for that , I'm sure it will be of good help to me) given above to bypass this horrible quest instead.😎
