Ouch. A PS2 controller? There may be an ancient tablet written in hieroglyphics somewhere as to how to get that to work.
In all seriousness, though, generic controllers do not currently work with DA:I. Unless you use joy2key or something, in which case your experience will be incredibly bad because it'll just be M&KB controls emulated on your controller.
It seems like the only real answer to this problem is the answer that's being thrown around for nearly everything else: wait for a fix.
In the meantime, I know you want to stick it to the man and screw corporations and all that cool college stuff, but it only makes sense that games on Windows would be easily compatible with the Xbox controller, as they're both made by Microsoft(obviously). You can drop $30 and spare yourself a whole lot of anguish. Not just with DA:I but with a lot of other games, too. That, or, anarchy for the UK, man. Fight the power.
