I cant even install Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64)

This is beyond frustrating. When I try to install the SP 1 Redistributable Package (64) I get this error-Error 997 Overlapped I/O operations is in progress.- Then set up stops! The (86) file installs...

Check if your OS if fully updated.

That particualr I/O error seems to be caused by certain KB update which was supposed to be fixed:

If your PC reveived all updates and the issue is not fixed, remove KB2918614
