I can't get Blackwal is there another way

So I got to sky hold and I have everyone on my team except Blackwal so as I try to acuire him looking to the mission lone warden witch I never done I realize that I can't get him. Is there another way...

You get him into your party by looking for him in the Hinterlands near the lake. You have a specific mission for that. I don't understand what you mean "I can't get him", why wouldn't you be able to do the quest?
