I can't get dialogue to show up in Dragon Age Origins

Hi All,

I have recently tried to play DA Origins again, but on my laptop, an ASUS Ryzen 5 running Windows 10. My problem is that I can't figure out how to make dialogue options show up on screen. I can't see captions or ANY of the dialogue options in character interactions. I've tried different resolutions to no improvement.  I had read somewhere that running the program in a window instead of a full screen would work, but I am evidently duncy and can't figure it out...

Can someone help me fix this problem so I can play one of my favorite games again?

  • @musicnerd Can you try running a repair on the game via origin then seeing if any dialogue will pop up?

    1. In Origin, Select 'My Game Library'
    2. Find the DA:O Tile, Right-click on the tile (while the game is NOT running)
    3. Select the repair option.

  • I cannot access the 7 content packs on my DA Ultimate Edition because the Bioware support server is no longer running.  Is there a way to enter the code in one of the data files to unlock the content? I'm pretty sure all the content packs loaded when installed from the 2 disc set.

  • Did you try the resolution 1366x768, the dialogue options should appear there
