Import character

Hi everybody,

I finished the main game and wanted to finish all the smaller DLC´s before I play Awakening, but when I finished them I noticed that I don´t have any saves from the main game (I only used quick saves). Is there still a way to import my character from the main game to Awakening and to Dragon Age 2 later? A still have the character files in documents. Thanks.

  • @Muembe69 That is unfortunate, but glad to hear you found a workaround. I myself just happened to spend some time googling for a recommended playing order before starting, because there was so much content in Ultimate, otherwise I too wouldn't have known that it's best to play Awakening before Golems & Witch Hunt for the sake of character import.

  • @Muembe69 The saves are associated per character, so you should still be able to get them. You just have to switch to the correct character first (something like custom or advanced import when starting a new DLC, not sure of the exact wording on the menu as I haven't done this in a while). Unfortunately if you finished all of the other DLCs already you won't be able to import the most up to date version of your character. For reference, Awakening saves can import into Golems of Amgarrak, and Golems of Amgarrak can import into Witch Hunt, but neither of the latter two will import into Awakening, and Witch Hunt saves won't import into Golems of Amgarrak.

@JanePhoenix Yeah, that is the problem. I played With hunt first with imported character and as I said, I only use quick save so when I click load game and choose my character there is a quick save and a couple of autosaves but all from Witch Hunt DLC. No save from the main game. And Awekening doesn´t even offers to import a character. I gues I lost it. It´s a lesson for the future. But thanks anyway.

  • @Muembe69 But unless you specifically deleted your saves they shouldn't be gone, because Witch Hunt saves don't overwrite Origins saves. I also played with quick save only, but was able to switch characters before choosing which one to import. If your warden from Origins survived you might not easily be able to tell which is which, since they'll all be under character profiles with the same name.

@JanePhoenix When I go to my character file into the saves there is one quick save from witch hunt and four autoseves also from witch hunt, nothing else.

  • @Muembe69 Okay, I went in-game to check the steps. So from the main menu I click Other Campaigns->Dragon Age: Awakening->Import From Another Module, then I see my character from Origins and I'm able to import it. It shouldn't show saves from anywhere else actually, since the saves from Golems or Witch Hunt get filtered out because they can't get imported into Awakening. So the only character you see there should be the one from Origins (as it existed at game end). So you won't have your levels, skills & equipment that you had in Witch Hunt.

@JanePhoenix Thats the thing, I don´t even have an option to import character when I start Awakening. It starts new character creation right away. I thing I messed up by importing my character to Witch hunt withour having any manual save in main game. But it´s fine, I don´t really have to play Awakening as my previous character and I found sort of Save generator for import to Dragon Age 2, just so my gameplay decisions are there.

@JanePhoenix Yes, I also read about the right order of DLCs, unfortunately after my mistake. I just wanted to play the short ones first :D But anyway thank you so much for your effort. I will label this as resolved. Thanks again and have a great day 🙂
