Leliana romance/personal quest dialogue bug (Xbox)
Howdy all,
I've started a DA reply during lockdown, starting with Origins. For the first time in countless playthroughs over the years, I've encountered the bug where Leliana's dialogue options get borked if you raise her approval too fast. ☹️ Gifts were taking up too much inventory space, so I gave a few out.
I like to pace out the conversations at camp, so I left out the one about "what was someone like you doing at Lothering's Chantry?" for the moment because it didn't fit the character I'm playing to be so blunt straight off (despite being a mildly cranky City Elf lol). When we returned to camp, it skipped on to the flirty conversation where she comments on the Warden's hair and I flirted back. Now, the option to ask what she was doing at the Chantry is gone, along with the subsequent options that let you ask about Orlais etc. Which means her personal quest won't unlock.
I looked it up online and saw the suggestions about lowering her approval with the prank gifts and building it up again, but this didn't work. I'm wondering does it not work if you initiate the romance? It's definitiely initiated, because I tested by trying to sleep with Isabela and she went nuts. 👿
Just wondering if anyone has successfully resolved this before? I'm about 30 hours in and while I don't necessarily *mind* restarting I guess, I happen to be really enjoying this playthrough. Everything else is going swimmingly. It's a new character after a decade of Cousland lol. I've just healed Eamonn and have Orzammar, the Brecilian Forest and all the DLC left. Sadly an earliest save of about 21 hours is no use because she's in the same state.
If anyone has tried lowering her approval with gifts, do you need to progress the main quest a bit to get the dialogue options back? I went did Stone Prisoner to see if that would help, returning to camp after a quest, but no luck. I've seen some people say to break up with her as well as lower approval, but I don't have the option. Seeing as I never got her to talk about Orlais, I don't even have the option to hear her bard stories. There's no dialogue left with her at the moment.
I think the romance can still work without her personal quest, but to be honest that's part of what makes her romance so good to be honest. I think it's a really great story and character development. So continuing this PT if I can't get it isn't really an option for me. So, checking with the wise oracles of the EA Answers boards before I go and grudgingly start a new, just in case anyone has a miracle fix. 🤓
