Lost Saves after restoring corrupt save

Hi My computer crashed whilst playing DA:I. After rebooting the computer and restarting DA:I I tried to continue my game, however DA reported that the save game was corrupted. I closed the game and opened Origin to restore the save game data. The cloud storage showed 1,000 KB of 1 GB. I restored the save files and started DA. The main menu only showed New Game, no continue option.

I checked my save game directly and all of my saves had gone. All 75 hours of gameplay deleted.

Not to worry, Origin will have it. Load the game details, go to the cloud storage tab, 0 KB of 1 GB shown. Clicking the restore button does nothing.

Now over an hour after chatting to a guy on support. He says I need to make a post on the forum for help.

  • @SteveLavine When you sync your save games from the cloud, these overwrite your local save folder (so if you sync an empty cloud, you lose your local saves), just as when you upload your saves to the cloud you overwrite your cloud save data (so if you upload an empty save folder, you lose your cloud saves).

It's always a good idea to make a backup of your local save folder when you're using cloud saves, it is far too easy to accidentally click the wrong thing and lose all your saves. If the game ever asks you to sync your save data, I recommend you immediately go and backup your local save folder before clicking anything, just in case.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, there is no way to recover your overwritten save folder/cloud saves. Sorry I can't be more help.

This is one reason why I don't use cloud saves and simply move saves to "saves backup" folder every so often for those I want to make sure are there, or when the folder gets too full.  I generally do this for all games.  I have had issues in the past of losing saves due to cloud and got so upset I just turned it off for all computers in my family.
