Ok, I'm sure this answer is obvious and I'll smack my forehead if someone tells me. However, I really don't understand how masterwork abilities work. A couple of examples... The armor I'm currently...

It is automatic. And it activates only when not in combat, iirc.
Another type I see is something like
"10% chance to grant 3 seconds of Walking Fortress"
Do you need to have Walking Fortress? Or it just "gives" it to you when it activates. And 10% chance when?
Yes, the character wearing the armor has to have that ability.
-edit- 10% chance means a change of tirggering the ability once out of every 10 attacks.
Darn it, I was looking forward to give all my characters masterwork armor triggering the rogue ability with 4 extra stabs.
That's just like, so uncool. Abilities should be free, man. Fight the powah!
I agree in with you that the abilites should be free unless class restricted just like being able to use any weapon or wearing of any type of armor allowed by a paticular character shouldn't be restricted to level of character.
