New Patch 2 error, GPU does not support DirectX 10.0 which is required

After patch 2, and having played for 33 hours, I suddenly cannot launch the game at all and get the error:

"AMD Radeon HD 5800 Series" GPU does not support DirectX 10.0 which is required.

Obviously, I have DirectX 11 installed. I have the latest AMD drivers from 12/8 and deleted all Origin cached files and reverified the game files. AMD Radeon HD 5870, which I have, supports DirectX 11. Pretty frustrating to no longer even be able to launch the game. As mentioned, was able to play game previous to the new patch 2.

After installing/uninstalling ASUS graphics card utilities one by one, I identified that uninstalling the ASUS Gamer OSD software that comes with the AMD Radeon HD 5870 was somehow responsible for keeping the DDI at 9EX instead of 11. After uninstalling that software and rebooting, dxdiag reports DDI as 11 and the game loads.

The problem is your dxdiag is showing directx version, 'DDI Version: 9Ex'.

Not sure what the exact solution is but I would start with reinstalling directx,

Navigate to ProgramsFiles(x86)\Origin\Games\DragonAgeInquisition\_installer\directx\redist, and run DXSETUP.exe as an administrator.

Run Display Driver Uninstaller to completely remove all remnants of your old video driver before reinstalling the latest one.

If the above do not help try installing directx10.

I really appreciate your suggestions. I actually did reinstall DirectX 11, but no luck. You pointed out the DDI problem, which I wasn't aware of. I will try researching specifics with my card manufacturer (ASUS).
