No Awakenings in Ultimate Edition - it's been 3 months, help!
So, after owning this game for three months, I still haven't been able to play awakenings, which was supposedly included.
I have spent many fruitless attempts searching various forums for help, and while there are fixes out there for people who had problems with awakenings but had it displayed as unauthorized, mine does not show up at all. I run the PC version, and I will admit I owned the game for a month before I even realized there was a problem, because I didn't go to play awakenings until I finished the main campaign with all the lovely DLC. Here is the complete story, in the hopes someone else may finally be able to help me play my game, as EA has completely failed to do so.
I did actually try to talk to EA help about this. I have talked to no less than 5 "tech support" staff members (who know less than I do just from wandering through the forums). I originally bought the game through the steam summer sale, and the first advice I got was to uninstall, download origins, and reinstall through their client. I did as was asked, and of course had to let the staff go while it took the 8+ hours to download and install all the odds and ends. I'm a little annoyed, because I only get to play on the weekends, and this eats up a whole day of my time.
No change, except now ALL my content was unauthorized. Great.
I fix that problem myself using the approved fixes posted on the site, and get EA back on chat my next free weekend. This time, they tell me I have failed to redeem my awakenings code. (which I did redeem, but whatever). They ask me to attempt to redeem it again. I get the obligatory error. They say they will do it for me, like I am some incompetent child. I didn't like their tone. Anyways, Awakening shows up in my library. Yay! It's fixed.... NOT.
Although it now shows up in my library, the awakenings expansion continues to not show up in game, via other campaigns, new game, load, nada. Not from entering via the normal game or through the awakenings expansion in the library.
My third attempt to get help ends after they tell me I need to patch the game to the current version, and refuse to listen to me when I say I have already done that.
I try to get EA chat back the very next day. But apparently we no longer support live chat or phone call for this game, it's too old, even though I was just talking to you yesterday. (I think they just don't want to talk to ME anymore, because they can't fix this). Whatever. I'll do the e-mail. I can wait 24 hours, I've been struggling for a month and a half or so by this point. It takes 3 days to get back to me.
They have done some magically voodoo fix on their end. Please check your game.
Ha.; No. It's still broken. I sent out another help request. It's been another 3 days and no answer at all as of yet.
Please tell me someone somewhere out there has a fix for this? Or knows how I can get some kind of credit to get a new copy or something? I love the DA series, and I love Mass Effect... Heck, I love Bioware. But I'm starting to have a really deep seated hatred of EA's customer support.
- I had a similar issue (well it downloaded Awakening - 28 gigs for the whole DA:Ultimate) but when I went ingame none of my DLC nor awakening was working (DLC unauthorized error) After contacting customer support several times which didn't work out in my favour I re-downloaded the game... After redownloading, I downloaded and installed the DLCs from https://social.bioware.com/user_entitlements.php (note: get the correct DLCs for your version Origins/Awakening) After the whole process, and after downloading and installing the latest patch, things seem to be in order and I have been able to play Awakening without any problem.
