Can we get an update on this? Or has EA simply given up and doesn't care that so many can't play the game since launch?

well it has already been like around 5 months since release, you can't pretty much conclude that they never cared and they don't really seem to care about what is going on on the forum either, no surprise there with EA history of poor customer service.
