I had a doubt that the reason for the full screen issue could be in the bugged scaler of the Iris Graphics driver and yesterday I had the final confirmation when i installed Windows 10 Technical Preview.
After the very first installation of the beta version of Windows there was a moment in which both graphic cards drivers were not installed.
I started installing the Nvidia Driver maintaining the Windows Base Driver for the intel card.
I run the game and it was working in full screen, although with poor performance. As soon as I updated the driver from the generic one to the intel Iris, the issue appeared.
So, we all understood that in Optimus laptops the scaling of the image is not managed by Nvidia card, that is the reason for which no option of override is available in the Nvidia Control panel.
But the scaler of the Intel driver is buggy. Bugs on Intel scaling are reported since 2012 and were never completely resolved. We have to start pestering Intel if we want a solution on this problem.
I have opened the thread https://communities.intel.com/message/291754 in Intel community.
Please support it
I have gone to this thread and posted my info. It seems like Intel is looking into the problem, thanks to Dydog666.
Kevin, from Intel, has provided pretty good customer service from what I have seen on the thread. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I think it's the first time any representative from Bioware, EA, nVidia, or Intel has officially said someone was looking into a fix. Definitely the most promising news to date on this issue.
I would also encourage anyone who is experiencing this issue to follow the link in the above quote to the Intel Communities thread and report the issue with your specs.
The more people are reported to be affected, the higher priority Intel will put on fixing this issue. And out of all the places to report the issue, that thread seems to be producing the most results right now. Let's all jump on that Intel Communities thread and make this issue visible, if we want a fix!
Also, as an FYI update:
With Windows 8.1, nVidia GeForce 970M and Intel HD Graphics 4600, I updated to the brand new nVidia drivers released a day or two ago from GeForce Experience (352.86; Device Manager version 9.18.13.5286). I'm also using latest Intel drivers from Intel Driver Update Utility (15.36.19.64.4170; Device Manager version 10.18.14.4170).
Anyway, I'm still having the same issue...fullscreen does not work. The new nVidia drivers do not fix the problem.
It's looking more and more like Intel might be our only hope...
Hey everyone, though I have an AMD chip I was running into the same problem on the Direct3d renderer since my computer uses switchable graphics (similar to Optimus). I switched to the Mantle API and it FINALLY works regular fullscreen. This to me suggests that this is clearly an Intel issue through the implementation of Direct3D and scaling. The difference is extremely noticeable. I have gone from 1600 x 900 (which also required me to use that as my desktop because of borderless window) to 1080p and I also turned up some of the graphics options and am getting solidly playable framerates, though I have no idea what they are specifically because I can't use FRAPS.
Hopefully you nvidia guys get some relief soon too! This issue is completely inexcusable.
