I was always a fan of DA2, I played it when I was quite younger so didn't notice all the issues people were complaining about. It still holds a special place in my heart! It's a much more intimate experience as apposed to DAO and DAI and tbh DATV kinda looks like it will be heading in that direction also (which I kind of hope).
Yes. Each Dragon Age game has reflected the fashions of its time. Arguably Origins draws from the semi-linear Neverwinter Nights (2002). Dragon Age II, being a somewhat budget-restricted follow-up, looks somewhat like the Dragon Age Origins expansion: 'Awakening' in scope. Inquisition clearly takes some influence from the hugely successful Skyrim with its rolling and in hindsight unnecessary optional areas. Veilguard is being compared in previews to 'God of War (2018)' in having a more linear mission-based structure with some hub areas.
