Just adding in that I'm having the same problem. Game ran fine before on High/Ultra and now game hitches constantly. It's unplayable this way. ☹️ ☹️

Can people please post their CPU and the amount CPU usage they have without the game running? (press ctrl+shift+esc) for windows 7 it will be at the bottom of the window in process tab, for windows 8.1 it is at the top

Hovering around 25% for me. When I run the game it spikes almost immediately to 100%.

I have a Core i5 3470 Quad Core at 3.2GHZ, without the game running my CPU usage is between 0-10% usage, with the game running it's always between 65-70% but I haven't seen it go higher than that so far.

Looks like I found the source of my stuttering/freezing/lags. It was a CPU usage. RealPlayer (sheduler and CloudService) taken 25% of a CPU usage
periodically. After disabling them i have fine smooth play like before Patch 2.- 11 years ago

*So far.
EDIT: To clarify, that was the only other process taking up any noticable amount of resources. As serg998 said, try disabling other processes as well.

I also have a Core i5 3470 Quad Core at 3.2GHZ. Without the game running, i'm between 3-7%. With the game running, it jumps up to ~90%.

10-20% outside, 80-100% in the game on an i5-4670K, stock speeds.

Exact same problem as everyone I guess: CPU going at 100% and freezing 3-4 second whatever the context (menu / fighting / not moving, etc).
It would be great to have at least a new to know that the problem is known and in progress.

I have an i5-2500k. I was running at about 25% CPU usage, without Dragon Age Running. I tried going into msconfig and disabling all unnecessary services and startup processes, and rebooted. The stuttering was completely gone. I think that it is Western Digital backup software causing the excess CPU usage, but that still doesn't explain why the game worked much better before the patch. Thanks for the reply though. I wouldn't have though to remove some services/processes otherwise.

It's obvious that the latest patch made the game more CPU inefficient. Bioware please took a look at your code, as it was working fine before the patch without any stutters or few second freezes.

Game runs better with Crossfire and latest AMD Drivers, gained approx 8FPS.
Game runs 55-65FPS on ultra and max everything. Pretty darn smooth. Using DirectX. Not using mantle.

Did some testing and noticed my USB 3 Monitor process is running at 25% CPU usage all the time. After killing this service DAI stopped pausing. CPU usage for DAI just sitting on the main menu averages 75-81%. But when I clicked on continue and just before it should have stopped loading my computer blue screened. Which is the first time that has happened. I don't know if my USB 3 process has always run at 25%, but nothing else seems to be afftected by it. So looks like DAI is requiring more CPU time than it did before patch #2 or somehow the patch has caused my USB 3 process to take up more CPU time.
