Someone on another thread posted that on i7s the game stresses out linked pairs of cores and thus the chip throttles down to prevent overheating. They fixed this by setting core affinty to 1 3 5 7 and 0 2 4 6 others said they played around with the mixing and matching to get the best results. Don't know if changing core affinity will help anyone but it is something to look at.
This allowed them to get rid of stuttering and laggy play.
