PC: Black Screen on Startup

Since purchasing dragon age over two weeks ago I have been plagued with this same perplexing issue (was not fixed in patch 2). Upon starting up the game it will bring up a minimized window as if it were going to work, yet the screen is black and there is no cursor and even after leaving it this way for 20 minutes nothing happens. It has to be tabbed out of and ended via task manager. Upon checking in event viewer there are no listed errors associated with it.

So far I have tried basically every fix I can possibly find on the internet including but not limited to just for proof:

Run as admin - disable origin overlays etc - disable antivirus - update ALL drivers - disabling cores and reactivating them - changing settings in nvidia control panel from highest possible to lowest possible - having no other processes running in background - updating directx11 - alt+enter method - repairing game - reinstalling game (3times now) including origin (two of those times)

Theres more but I simply cannot remember the rest at the time of writing suffice it to say im sure you can see what im getting at here.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated and much thanks in advance.

Also heres what im running, which I double checked prior to purchasing the game and was shown would not be an issue but all the same.

Playing around with DA:I I have noticed that the video resolution, unless specifically set in game, dynamically changes to the windows resolution.

Just to get the game started, can you try doing this,

In 'Documents>BioWare>DragonAgeInquisiton>Save' folder, if it's there, rename your 'ProfileOptions_profile' file to 'ProfileOptions_profile bak'.

Right-click on desktop and set your windows screen resolution to 1280x720 (or lower), and then try launching the game.

Thanks for the suggestion as well as its quickness, thats a new one, however it sadly changed nothing. Game still launches into a state with a black screen and absolutely nothing else. Never gotten past this point.

Indeed I have, I am by no means a tech expert but i get the distinct feeling as though there may be some sort of compatibility issue going on here between the game and my set up more than anything else.

Of course thats just my wild speculation. Im hoping this situation wont simply get ignored and looked over because I've noticed im certainly not the only one and worse yet there are varying degrees of this issue, and it would be nice if EA/Bioware could do something about this. It's sad that so far im noticing the community helping the community far more than anything else, but hey maybe they are truly working hard on fixes for this among many other issues.

There seems to be an issue with Windows 7 and AMD FX processors which have caused some games to crash. Microsoft have released some hotfixes that apparently are not implemented in the windows automatic updates. They relate to poor thread optimisation and parking cpu cores. They might be worth looking into to. Also check your PC has the latest motherboard bios.

Thank you very much for this idea, indeed two of my cores are parked which is odd given i explored any issues with my CPU extensively and never saw that get mentioned once. I'm currently in the process of giving this a try once i can get the damned hotfixes applied, and I shall report back any success i have with this.

Well those programmes did not work. However next logical solution will be me unparking my cores manually and hoping windows wont cause any conflictions, that and hoping it will actually do anything for starting the game. Thanks again however, will report back success later for any interested.
