Another Update: Switched my settings to high and I got a CTD after about 45 minutes, and then it started happening every 10 - 15 minutes. So, I switched back to medium settings and got another CTD after about 30 minutes. Fuuuuuuuuudge.
Rolling back my GPU driver was definitely an improvement, but the crash is still happening.
The really weird part is that I see zero performance differences between high and medium settings. CPU and GPU temps remain the same in both settings, too. Super odd.
All in all, I've never had an experience with a PC game like this. Which sucks, because the game seems to be pretty damn cool.
Update AGAIN: I turned all my stuff down to medium and turned anti-aliasing down to low, and it seems pretty stable.
So, what I did to get my game to *seem* stable (I have yet to run a good 2-3 hour marathon on this one, but I just finished a 45 minute session, which is a BIG improvement from yesterday):
1) Uninstall Geforce Experience
2) Roll back to driver version 344.65 , and custom install *only* the graphics driver
3) Set Origin to offline mode
4) Turn off Origin overlay
5) Set game to play in windowed mode
6) Turn off v-sync
6) Set graphics settings to medium with low AA
7) Sacrifice two chickens to Hal-a-umpah*
And, again, I see no performance boost from dialing it down to medium from high, so I have a hard time believing that my PC's specs are causing the crash. It seems like something is rotten in code land, and I hope all this info helps inspire a fix.
*may or may not have helped 😉
