My CTD issue happens before the game even starts....it'll open in windowed mode and go through all the loading processes as normal. But then whenever I click on the screen, it attempts to maximize and then immediately crashes.

are you using mantle or dx11 api?
if using mantle, be sure that the screen resolution and refresh rates are set to the native resolution of the screen.
if you do not do this, it can cause loss of image, wierd graphical outputs (i.e. garbled image like static, but with lines.)
and you have to ctrl+alt+del then esc to get out of it.
I have been running into these issues the past few days, with windows media player, and with the game.
it happens when the game tries to resize, to the native screen resolution (in my case 1920x1080p@60hz)
and if it is not set at that resolution, you can have serious issues, with mantle.
the game is not optimizing the matle api.
Although I do get slightly better performance with fullscreen mode,
I generally play in windowed fullscreen, in case of a crash, and I need to alt+tab out of the game to get to task manager to shut the game down.
also if you are running ccc, and have an app running to control fan speed, or OverClock/UnderClock your graphics cards.. go into the task manger and shut CCC down, turn it off completely. It wil not effect your gameplay, as any crossfire(x) options were initiated at start up. If you do not do this, you may see severe to extreme resource allocation/usage.
Just observing my resources at start up, when having both CCC and MSI afterburner running, they (together) use about 14% of my 8-core 4GHZ cpu... which is way too high. But when I turn off CCC the cpu usage goes down to about 4% (still high, but more acceptable than 14%)
also what elmoh stated. yes turn off all overlay functions/programs.
there is an in game console command that can be used to disable all overlays.
open console by hitting the ~ (left of the 1 key on US keyboards)
you will get a grey box the pops up in the upper left hand corner of the screen
with an >_ blinking
type this command in (unfortunantely you can't cut/copy n paste)
perfoverlay.enable 0
then hit enter. that's it. you shouldn't get any overlays, in game.
also in the origin app, right click on the game icon, and select properties,
make sure there IS a checkmark next to "Disable Origin inGame for this game" and click ok.
