[PC] Dragon Age : Inquisition won't start.

Hello,

My game will no longer boot after updating it to patch 9 and downloading the new DLC. After activating the launcher my cursor loads for a few seconds before returning to normal and nothing happens. Dragon Age: Inquisition does appear in 'background processes', however, in my task manager.

I have tried all the protocol 'fixes' like rebooting, updating drivers, running in compatibility mode and as administrator etc, to no avail.

Can someone please help me fix this, as I just spent ~$50 on content only to be stuck with technical errors.

Thanks.

What did you run as administrator, the game or Origin? The latter fixed it for me.

I've tried with both - same result.

Ok. I know a few people will still be having the Start up Problems.

Here is what my PC was doing and how I fixed it. Maybe you will be able to get your game working.

I searched everywhere for solutions and found none, but figured this out on my own.

My game was downloaded and Installed from Origin. When i clicked play it just shows up in the Task Manager along with the "ActivationUI.exe" and both disappear after a few seconds and nothing happens.

So i tried the following i found online...

    1. Deativate AVG - I dont use AVG but i checked my Avast none the less. All was unblocked on Firewall and Avast.

    2. The DirectX corrupt files - I reinstalled the DirectX files twice...

    3. Download all expansions and DLC since they could contain a fix - This did nothing but cost me more money.

    4. Check my Activation links in GPedit (Whatever it is called). - my settings where already on Default.

    5. Update my Graphics Drivers - Didnt work anyway.

I tried them all, and was about to go for a refund. when I thought of something. I knew the error was occurring in the Activation of the game since it was the reason nothing happened and i knew my game still hadn't been activated. For that reason i was about to download a pirated copy (Hope EA and Bioware reads this). Because they should have fixed this issue a long time ago.

My activation did not want to work. so i opened Origin Website and tried to load and activate my game while on the website. This solved my issues since the activation done via Origin Website is done different than the actual software does it.

After that initial startup fix, the game works fine now 🙂

Hope this helps someone else (I was unable to play for a month)

  • After trying every single suggestion I could possibly find, I temporarily deactivated my AVG and now the game loads. How do tell AVG that the game is ok so I don't have to completely deactivate it?

I, also, tried all fixes. It's AVG and their companies (AVG is a subsidiary of Avast). Disable your antivirus software and start the game. Then you can restart your antivirus software.

Hello, thanks for the tip, I use Avast, so I disabled shields for starting the game and it worked.
