[PC] Dragon Age Inquisition: Sudden bad performance, fps drops/lag

Ok, so I haven't played Dragon Age Inquisition in some months, maybe since May. I never finished so I wanted to fire it back up and try to work my way through it.

Unfortunately, my performance has plummeted. I used to be able to play in full Ultra with no problems whatsoever and pretty short load times. I've been messing around with lowering my graphics settings and nothing seems to help.

Problems I have now:

> Texture loading lag & NPC loading and movement lag. Lots of "dropping in" models and awkward hiccups. Companions and enemies are both effected.

> Runs much hotter than before.

> Lag increases dramatically during battle.

> Much longer loading screen times than before, often gets stuck on black screen with loading icon.

>Lagged animations, bad syncing with voices, cut scenes out of pace and sometimes the visuals such as model load and movement extend past the sound effects or music.

That's from testing a few different saves for about 15 minutes each, travelling and in battle in the Hinterlands. Interestingly enough, the performance is much better disconnected from the internet. If it's of any relevance I live in an area where Comcast has implemented a data cap. Also, I'm able to run Fallout 4 pretty well, as well as other games released within the last two years, so I'm wondering if it's something wrong with Origin?
I just did a fresh install this morning to see if that would help, which had the effect of slight improvements. Before the fresh install it was actually completely unplayable due to lag/fps drops.

My specs (images, let me know if you need text instead):

Let me know if any further information is needed and I'll happily provide.

From the looks of your dxdiag, you've been having a few problems (though it doesn't date errors, so it's possible those are old). Still, it's possible there's something wrong with more than just Inquisition.

Is there a particular point in time where you noticed your performance suddenly started dropping? Could it be related to a driver update (I know there have been issues with Nvidia drivers a few times), an upgrade to Windows 10, anything like that?

At least the integrated GPU that's supposed to be on your CPU isn't showing up, I guess you actually managed to turn it off in BIOS? So few people seem to actually have that option. 😛

When you say you cleaned your PC, do you mean you physically cleaned the case? (Which is really something you should do every now and then, anyway). Perhaps you could give it a software cleanout too? Something like ccleaner could be useful for that.

One other possibility, which is unlikely, is your gaming mouse (and maybe keyboard). There was a problem at one point with Razr gaming peripherals (I'm guessing with the software), I'm not sure if that was ever fixed. Still, if you're running the software, it wouldn't hurt to try with it turned off, see if that helps at all.

Honestly, your system is better than mine, CPU and GPU-wise (I also have an i5 (2500K) and an Nvidia (GTX 570), they're just older and my CPU thankfully didn't come with integrated graphics 😛 ), so there's no good reason, hardware wise, for you to be having issues.

You were right! Turning off the Razr software actually did fix my problem! Thank you !:eahigh_file:
