[PC] Nivida Graphics Card fix/update?

bioware is aware of the issue and is working on it, from what I have been told.

also you are playing on a laptop. they game tries to run on the systems default hardware (your integrated hardware)

trying to get it to work on your nvida card, is causing it to crash (i assume).

you may have to wait for another patch or update before your laptop can play the game on the nvidia hardware.

While your at it, please also have them look at the nVidia GPU usage. Ive noticed its the only game where the usgae never reaches 100%. I always have MSI afterburner open, and with VSync on or off, the usage peaks at 98%, never goes over 95% at Skyhold and all the while looking like a hart monitor. I guess thats due to the stuttering, which I can only get ridd of when enabling vsync in game and ALT-Tabbing to windows and back. Then after next loadingh screen stutter is back....

It really smacks at poor optimisation for nVidia cards and that we are missing out on a lot of extra perfromance.  My FPS will sit at a stuttery awfull 45 FPS and I'd look at afterburner and see that the usage is only at 96% or wehatever, and I'd go wtf....

My sysetm spec:

Intel i7 3770K

16 GB 2133Mhz DDR3

Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Gigabyt GTX 970 G1 4G

Yeah it is a laptop, which I guess is unfortunate. I have tried setting the NVIDIA card as the defaut for the game through the NVIDIA control panel, but that doesn't seem to help. Is it that the NVIDIA is simply unable to work with DA:I at all (like with the rendering distances your orange post describes), or is it the "switch" from my integrated hardware to the NVIDIA when the game launches that causes a crash? If it is the switch, is there a way to just use my NVIDIA for everything and avoid a switch?

I'm fairly computer-illiterate, so please forgive me if these are ignorant questions. I'm just curious.

I have the same problem with 740 on my desktop since yesterday.I guess it's not a laptop problem

There is a massively restrictive gap between a desktop GT 740, which should equal to the minimum, and the typical (any other but Sager) laptop's performance decreases of 20 to 30%, placing the laptop video devices well below the game minimum.  To only meet the minimum, a laptop GTX 750, or even a GTX 750 Ti will be required. 

Lately, the very newest of nVIDIA's highest performance cards, like the GTX 980, are experiencing difficulty running Inquisition.  I am unaware of anything either that EA or nVIDIA has done in the last few days to change how Geforces work in the game.  I cannot say anything helpful or productive about the Origin in-game overlay; disable that, most certainly. 

No fix for me. Still have flickering on some of the shrubbery with Titan SLI.

I believe you already have contributed to one or more threads about high performance Geforces, and your input here isn't harmful.  I probably should not have mentioned the GTX 980, myself.  We need to remained focussed, in this thread, however, on the GT 740 entry level cards, and their equivalents here, I believe.  Thank you.

What If I told you I am running the game fine (Crashes and normal problems are still there) on My "getting old" Alienware 14X which has a GT555M with 1.5GB VRAM with (Optimus) at 720p. By fine I mean at about 30fps. 

This doesn't mean the game is not crashing is crashing for me on my 2x780Tis (desktop) constantly when switching to cinematics or from cinematics to normal game...

What I want to say is that the minimum requirements are BS....

Although I cannot verify that EA has followed the same standards every time, when Bioware actually really understood hardware (they usually have NOT), they professed to follow the stndard that if they said "minimum", they were referring to Low Quality graphics settings at a Medium screen resolutions, while running at "Moderate" video animnation rates on ther order of 40-45 FPS. 

30 FPS is sub-minimum, on that basis.
