I'm running the Day 1 release version in single-player mode without patching and the game runs mostly smoothly so far. Some fps drops in heavily-forested areas and towns, but nothing too serious. Minimal to low stuttering on ultra settings and MSAA disabled. Game has not crashed yet and hopefully it stays that way. Running game with Origin in-game disabled, CPU turbo boost disabled in Windows power settings, and GPU running at factory defaults. CPU load hovers between 35% to 55% and GPU between 75% and 99% load. I haven't tried Windows 7 compatibility mode yet, which has improved performance in certain games like Far Cry 3, but might be a bit adventurous and try it later on. So for those of you with performance issues even on the release version, try turning off Origin in-game and not overclocking any hardware. My specs:
i7 4790k @ 4.0 GHz (stock with turbo disabled)
8 GB RAM (1600 MHz and 7-8-8-20 timings)
GTX 970 SSC 4 GB
Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit
