Blarg, just bought the game yesterday since I figured the most major issues would be resolved by now.  Sadly, it looks like I'm stuck with the DirectX error with my nvidia card for a while.  At least this thread was easy to find so I know it's nothing on my end I have to bang my head against the wall to try to fix.

    Try changing the drivers as mentioned towards the start of the thread; it is literally a case of working through the fixes one by one until you find something you can live with.
