FYI...
Just wanted to pass along my experience.
I could have posted this in any of a dozen locations, but this one seemed to make the most sense given the research done on the first page.
I recently (November) tried to run DA:I on my old PC (7 years), but it would not run since it was a dual core.
I was mulling building a new system anyway, so I did during mid-December.
My rig is a decent one :
-- ASUS Z97-PRO
-- Intel I5-4690K 3.5GHz
-- 2x8GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 2133MHz RAM
-- EVGA GeForce GTX760 SuperClocked 2GB GDDR5
-- Intel 730 Series 480GB SSD
Since I primarily built it for DA:I, I haven't loaded much else on it.
My son has loaded an played "Call of Duty: Ghosts" and it plays very well.
Though, like many others I've seen on the tech forums, I was frustrated by frame rate drops (stuttering video) during the gameplay.
I applied a couple of the changes as recommended on page one of this thread.
While it seemed to make things a bit better, it never really cleared up the situation completely.
I did a little monitoring of my own (using PerfMon) and started noticing a spike in the CPU during the time period of the frame rate drops.
At first, I thought it was solely the game causing the spike, but then I noticed (by change) another program spiking during that time period as well.
So, I put a CPU monitor on both the DA:I game and the other suspected culprit and, sure enough, the spikes coincided.
The culprit was "atkexComSvc.exe", which turns out to be a service program related to ASUS' AI Suite 3.
So, I uninstalled AI Suite 3 and ran the "AI Suite Cleaner" program recommended on ASUS' ROG forum to completely remove the services.
Once that was done, I played the game (with the thread page 1 settings) and got frame rates in the 70s.
Once I removed the settings (i.e. used the NVIDIA GeForce Experience recommended settings), I got frame rates in the 40s to 70s.
I've played for about 15 minutes so far...plenty of time to encounter some of those spikes...but they did not occur at all.
The game is finally playing smoothly.
Hope this helps alleve someone else's frustrations.
It did mine.
