Still in talks with a lawyer friend regarding Bioware releasing a working product, garnering many great reviews/scores/accolades, and then proceeding to patch it into an unplayable state for many.
He is of the opinion that this is fraud. SEEMINGLY they got their money and no longer want to support the game as they have other things to do, and as such...Patch 2 arrived so that Origin can cope with other games.

This is kinda depressing in a sense. I don't know about anyone else, but I first came to know Bioware when I stumbled across Baldur's Gate back in '98. I grewup on Atari, 8-bit Nintendo, Genesis, etc so was mainly a console gamer until this point. Bioware and Baldur's Gate plunged me into PC gaming... I now normally acquire consoles generations/years later as after-thoughts/gifts (got a 360 2 years ago as a gift).
Aside from various other games (other developers), I eagerly picked up these Bioware titles over the years:
Baldur's Gate
Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast
Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn
Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal
Neverwinter Nights
Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide
Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Jade Empire
Mass Effect
Mass Effect - All DLC
Dragon Age: Origins
Dragon Age: Origins – All DLC
Mass Effect 2
Mass Effect 2 - All DLC
Anyway, point is, "growing up" with Bioware feels akin to appreciating a certain celebrity for their ideas, thoughts, music, movies, whatever. You appreciate the work. Then suddenly, the celebrity falls off... hard. You think, "well, that was just a stumble... they'll bounce back." And you watch as they continue the disappointing downward spiral, becoming worse, more absurd and simply annoying. You keep hoping things will turn around. You try to remain loyal, but where does it end?
Maybe this "fraud" thing does not pan out, maybe it does. I think it should because releasing the PC version in its current state is a slap in the face to their PC fanbase. Maybe this is the beginnning of another scandal big enough to launch Bioware and EA back into a negative spotlight - this seems like a legitimate claim. End of the day however, the fact Bioware is here is just a very disappointing. I miss Bioware 1998 - c. 2010

I loved Bioware like you did until they joined EA and announced KOTOR, the MMO and released Dragon Age 2. I felt betrayed but I should have known things would get worse since EA destroyed the Ultima franchise and then there was Pandemic...

I doubt many of the original employees are still in Bioware, they've either retired, left to brew beer or joined other companies.
