It's funny that you mention this, I too have a 5.1 setup but direct to the PC not via an AV receiver.

I too noted that audio didn't seem to be very excited on the rear speakers. In fact, dialog being spoken behind me was being projected through the middle speaker.

My setup works flawlessly on every other 5.1/theater game, including Battlefield 3 and 4.

Just another bug to add to the huge, huge list I guess.
