If you are locked out of the start menu, go to
Users\user\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save
Delete the preferences files there.
Still doesn't fix gamepad support but will let you play w/ M&KB.

This was actually my issue as well. Now I'm able to hop onto the game. Hopefully I won't have any CTDs like other people have been claiming. Best of luck guys. Thanks for the post. It really helped. Unfortunate this had to be found 11 pages deep. It needs to be pinned on top.
I'm trying to get my Xbox 360 Wireless Controller (with PC wireless adapter to work) and no dice. It is the only USB game Controller showing up in the my Windows settings, but when I start DA:Inquisition I get one of two circumstances, it either doesn't detect it as a controller and only allows me to do mouse and keyboard, or it freezes when it gets to "Connecting to Dragon Age Servers" on the start screen. I do not have these issues when the controller is unplugged. I also have this issue connecting to the game using my Shield Tablet and Gamestream, using the Nvidia Controller. It freezes at the title screen when connecting to the server, every time.
Community Admin@Darthus Do you have anyother USB peripherals connected? Try starting the game with nothing but the wireless adapter connected, and try again. If it works, add things one-by-one until you find the conflict.
it seems this may have been a software conflict I closed the number of background programs including pinnacle Game Profiler which is a keyboard to game controller mapping software, razer cortex and Razer synapse which is for my Razer mouse.
Lo and behold the gamepad was detected the next time I went into the game. So one of those programs is likely the culprit I have not yet disable them one by one to see which it is. I would guess it is probably pinnacle has that does gamepad ambulation and so may have been causing an issue. However it was disabled so it should not have had any sort of active profile when I was in the game.
