So at the rate that the people who cannot even download are being helped, I guess I can expect to be playing the game in early 2015... -.- Fkin' seriously...
Hey everyone,
I got online with a live chat representative last night and worked with them for about an hour to try to solve this. What I got was they're aware of the problem and have successfully solved it for other people already, and the representative walked me through several steps to solve the issue. However, after all those steps the problem still persists, and I put the effort on pause since it was 2 AM my time.
I can summarize those steps later when I'm not busy at work, but for anyone who has the time to wait in queue for a chat representative, I'd actually suggest that at this point, it sounded like they had several unique ideas as to how to fix it.
- Anonymous11 years agoI've chatted with four different "specialists" about this issue, each having their own "unique" ideas on how to fix this problem. None of them worked. If they do actually have a solution, then they should be posting it in this thread like they said they would, or at least reply to the various PM's we sent them. Instead, all we've gotten is silence.

This is plainly and simply a software issue with the Origin client. It is obviously not robust enough and so not fit-for-purpose, no messing around with user system settings is going to get around that.
I just hope the issue is "fixable" before friday (the official release date here in the UK), and would not expect a blow by blow account of the progress while they are working on the issue. Maybe an update IF there is something significant to report but only then.
This needs us all to exhibit patience, but TBH this is getting close to stretching mine.

Hi all,
We have just replied individually where possible to those logs we had requested, thanks again for posting them.
Unfortunately there isn't any sort of common error that points at something specific. Instead, we have seen a mix of network errors, be it timeout or straight disconnects as well as an instance with a potentially bad node at a CDN. At least the latter should not be an issue anymore however, the client would automatically attempt to choose a different node anyway.
Our standard recommended troubleshooting process for these kinds of issues with downloads are listed below:
- Ensure that no proxy is enabled
- Restart your router/modem and do a Clean Boot
- Make sure that your UAC is enabled and set to notify
- Add firewall/antivirus exceptions for Origin and open the needed ports
- When starting Origin, please make sure to run it as Administrator
- Set a different cache / installation folder for Download [Try the same partition where Origin is installed, try the default one, try another one]
- Delete the Origin cache file
- Manually uninstall Origin
- Run CCleaner
- Download the latest version of Origin and install the client
Cheers,
Nils

Translation: We have no actual way to solve the problem, because as our reputation stands, we offer shoddy service and show outright incompetence in anything but marketing and bribery. Please just try deleting and restarting until it works, or we push out some sort of fix weeks down the road then pat ourselves on the back.
Useless twats.
