Well, just got done with another chat session. This was my 8th or 9th one I think. It's actually kind of funny now watching them get flustered after they go through all the "solutions" I've been hearing all week, and I tell them that none of them work. This last person even seemed to get offended when I told him the problem was on their end, not mine. He told me that everything was fine over there. Then, after I told him to transfer me to someone else who might actually know what the problem was, he disconnected, saying that my cursing had offended him. I cursed twice in the chat, neither time directed at him. Honestly, his horrendous spelling and grammar were way more offensive to me. If anyone wants to try any of the brilliant solutions he gave me, here they are:
Click on Start
2. Click on Control Panel
3. Click on the "View By" option and select the Icon view (large or small options give the same information)
4. Select User Accounts (it should open into the account of the user who is currently logged in)
5. Click on the bottom-most option, which will be "Change User Account Control Settings"
6. Adjust the slider to the bottom-most option
7. Accept the changes
8. Restart the computer
-Click on the windows logo/start button
-In the searchbar, type services.msc
-Press ENTER
-A list of services should now be in front of you.
-Click "extended" tab
-Search for "UPnP host devices" or something similiar (the description is something like: Allow
hosting of UPnP devices )
-Right click it
-Click Properties
-I don't know how to translate this, but there is an option like "startup", in the general tab. You
can choose between: Automatic (delayed startup), Automatic, Manually, Disabled. You must
choose Disabled.
-Click on "stop service"
-Click "apply" and close that little windows.
-Search for "SSPD discovery" and do the same things that you did above.
-Close everything
-Reboot.
Clean boot in Windows Vista/7:
I would suggest that you try running your system using the Windows clean boot option. That way you would be able to locate any program that might be interfering with the game.
The instructions for clean booting your operating system can be found at the below link: -
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Install using new Admin account Vista/7
If the issue still persist, I would advise that you try installing the game using a new admin account on your operating system. For this you would have to first uninstall your game, which you can do by downloading the Revo uninstaller from the below given link: -
http://www.revouninstaller.com/start_freeware_download.html
Once you have uninstalled your game completely, create a new admin account for your operating system by following the steps mentioned at the below given link: -
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Create-a-user-account
Once done, restart your PC and login using the new Admin account then install your game. Try playing the game and let us know if the issue still persist.I'
I haven't even bothered with them. Not going to waste my time.

@Jax979: That "solution" sounds a tad extreme, turning down UAC to the minimum is not recommended (virus propogation risk) and should not have any effect on file system permissions (just application installation in the main).
On Windows 8/8.1, the default for the UPnP host service is manual (based on my installation) and is not started unless you have services that use it (I don't) and sounds like a hail mary.
Disabling SSDP may interfere with the detection of standard networked printers which most likely use one of the protocols employed by this service.
As for the creation of a new user and running Origin underneath that, this would be little different from uninstalling, doing a registry clean, and reinstalling for most people.
All in all, another bunch of placebo tests though - If Origin can not co-exist with UPnP/SSDP then Origin should be fixed so it can.
FTR I am running the UPnP/SSDP disabled test, though as expected I lost connectivity to my networked printer.

Disabling UPnP/SSDP did nothing to change the situation... as I suspected it would not.

If EA suggest altering UAC level - ignore them! This is completely unacceptable. It's a security option that should not be disabled. Did these morons explain the risks of disabling it?
