@Jax979: That "solution" sounds a tad extreme, turning down UAC to the minimum is not recommended (virus propogation risk) and should not have any effect on file system permissions (just application installation in the main).
On Windows 8/8.1, the default for the UPnP host service is manual (based on my installation) and is not started unless you have services that use it (I don't) and sounds like a hail mary.
Disabling SSDP may interfere with the detection of standard networked printers which most likely use one of the protocols employed by this service.
As for the creation of a new user and running Origin underneath that, this would be little different from uninstalling, doing a registry clean, and reinstalling for most people.
All in all, another bunch of placebo tests though - If Origin can not co-exist with UPnP/SSDP then Origin should be fixed so it can.
FTR I am running the UPnP/SSDP disabled test, though as expected I lost connectivity to my networked printer.
If EA suggest altering UAC level - ignore them! This is completely unacceptable. It's a security option that should not be disabled. Did these morons explain the risks of disabling it?
