So in an effort to reflect our rightful accusations that they're attempting to suppress the problem and not deal with this issue, Nils sent me a private message with the steps suggested by Geoff. Of no surprise to any of us I bet, the steps do not work, as I download my way to 18 gigs and then continually watch it regress back to say, 15 or 14 gigs, then 5, and eventually the download fails.
At this time, please continue to remind the support staff of their sheer incompetence, and continue to pirate the products or do whatever else you can to cause problems or deny EA money. If you cannot provide the product we've paid for, you deserve to be mocked and suffer consequences.
Ok, time for my report - FTR Safe Download Mode Solved nothing for me.

@EA: Still can't download the material - <3days/72hrs left.

@EA: Still no progress??? <2days/48hrs left 😕mileywink:
I have tried to do what O1LSL1CK has suggested (fitting an occassional progress check into my day) but I seem to be unable to get further than 65% before it regresses again (Alleged CRC errors with some of the backed up data causes an initial regression of ~10% - regenerating the backup does not seem to help much). I am currently back at 6% and will probably try to backup fresh if/when it gets to the ~50% mark.
The problem appears to be repeated issues with CRC checks failing against already downloaded material. I manage to do lots of internet data transfers without such issues and find it hard to believe that there are network data transfer corruption issues just with the Origin service. This would seem to imply the CRC checks may be broken. The 16EB progress error also brings into doubt the accuracy/validity/quality of the progress monitoring/assessment code.
Steam manages to reliably transfer large files (which seem to be the main culprit) so why can't Origin?
Come on EA, you can (or should be able to) do better than this...

@EA: Is this "white elephant" called Safe Download mode your final answer to attempt to workaround the problem? If so it is a MEGA-FAIL 0/10 points class solution.
You still need to address the underlying CRC/Progress issues that are occuring with your software/system. The fact that you seem to be ignoring this is indicative of either gross incompetance or gross negligance on your part (and I do not use such terms lightly).
I know the Origin client can work, but it does not work reliably with any distributable more than a few hundred MB.
I have enjoyed playing some of your games and have looked forward to playing the DA:I but because of your handling of this situation I am inclined to push for a full refund of my entire Origin library and boycott any current or future EA Games.
Allowing you 28 days to resolve the underlying problems is being more than reasonable on my part but you still have till 12:00 GMT Sa-13-Dec-2014 to salvage the situation. It is in your hands now.
