Private Lobby not working

Good evening! 

I have been trying to play in a private lobby with friends for DAI:Multiplayer. And I am having little to no success. Every time I try to invite my friend, it says it failed to launch the overlay. I have launched other games from the EA launcher, and the overlay works just fine. However in DAI the overlay is not working  at all, and I can not use the private game as I wish for me and a friend to play the game. Are there any known work arounds or fixes to this? I have reinstalled the game, and verified it's integrity, and also cleared the app's cache and disabled all applications that could affect the overlay.
